Verse 1:
Many people don't like lace,
They say it's itchy and scratchy.
It's pretty to look at, but not to touch —
It gets uncomfortable after a while.

Chorus:
Oh, lace, you’re a delicate facade,
Hiding imperfections in a fragile charade.
Soft on the surface, the beauty’s in the eye,
But underneath the layers, we’re just trying to get by.

Verse 2:
The thin, sheer fabric doesn’t cover much,
It enhances those doubts, makes us feel the crutch.
A ribbon of polish wrapping up the flaws,
Yet deep down inside, we’re just feeling lost.

Chorus:
Oh, lace, you’re a delicate facade,
Hiding imperfections in a fragile charade.
Soft on the surface, the beauty’s in the eye,
But underneath the layers, we’re just trying to get by.

Bridge:
We’re layered and fragile, much like your weave,
Protecting each other, but can’t really breathe.
Putting our best foot forward, oh, what a show,
Teetering on edges that nobody knows.

Outro:
But still, we’re beautiful in this state of disarray,
Like lace that’s soft, yet holds real stories to say.
The roughness that binds us makes us feel whole,
In vulnerability, we find how to console.

About "Lace and Vulnerability"
  • Song Idea:

    Many people don't like lace;
They say it's itchy and scratchy. It's pretty to look at, but not to touch — it gets uncomfortable after a while.
The thin, sheer, crafted fabric doesn't cover much, not allowing insecurities to be hidden but enhancing them. The lacy fabric, almost a bow, polishing the
    "imperfections."
A delicate, layered, fragile, and yet beautiful piece of fabric, which I guess you could say is how people are too.
The layers protect us or make us seem more "polished." In that state we're all a little uncomfortable — "putting your best foot forward" or just lying, teetering the edge. But still beautiful in vulnerability. Like lace, soft on the surface - from afar.
But the roughness is what makes us real.
