A heartfelt song reflecting self-growth, accomplishments, and the journey through college life, as a senior looks back at their freshman year, celebrating personal evolution and the pursuit of dreams.
(8) Dear future self, I hope you know,
(7) You’re living dreams, you’re not alone.
(8) Remember days of feeling low,
(6) Struggling hard to find the glow.
(11) Four long years have come and gone,
(12) You stood strong through storms, you carried on.
(11) The doubts that weighed you down were real,
(12) But look at how much you now feel.
(4) You’ve grown,
(4) You’ve flown,
(4) You’ve shone,
(4) You’ve grown.
(6) Through every loss, you found your way,
(6) Just chasing dreams, brighter each day.
(8) Late nights spent in books and tunes,
(7) Now you shine beneath the moons,
(8) Friends that lift you up and rise,
(6) Hold onto them, don’t say goodbyes.
(11) The keys you grasped, they fit you right,
(12) The stage you claim, your voice ignites.
(11) Remember just to breathe it in,
(12) Your journey’s end is where it begins.
(4) So sing,
(4) Don’t cling,
(4) Just spring,
(4) Let’s bring.
(6) Your heart will guide, through joy and pain,
(6) Dance on the stage, don’t fear the rain.

Your lyric must contain (3) distinct sections.
By sections I mean: verses, pre-choruses, choruses, post choruses, and a bridge.
Verses must be like other verses, choruses like other choruses etc.
But, each distinct section should have its own unique syllable count, and a different number of lines form other sections.
And, each line should have it's syllable count in parentheses at thre begining of each line, for example:
(5) No way back in time
(6) We can't remember why
The consistency of syllable count - section to section - is one of the fundamental rhythmic building blocks of a song.
That doesn't mean every line is the same, but that the syllable count of each section is identical, or almost identical to other occurrences of that section.
For example, the syllable count in your verse might be...
8 syllables
7 syllables
8 syllables
6 syllables
But then all other verses should match that count.
And if that were your verse syllable count, then perhaps your pre-chorus would be:
11 syllables
12 syllables
And if that was your pre-chorus syllable count, then perhaps your chorus would be:
4 syllables
4 syllables
4 syllables
4 syllables
6 syllables
6 syllables
As you can see in this example, not only does each section have a unique syllable count, but each section also a different number of lines that other sections.
One or two fewer or extra here and there are acceptable, but try for identical.
Be mindful of the goal of consistency, and preservation of cadence.
I don't know what to write about yet but I found this letter to myself from 4 years ago from when I was a freshman in college, I am now a senior, so I feel like maybe something about getting older and self-growth, accomplishing goals, going through hardships and finding yourself and your people at the end...im also graduating this semester with a music degree which was probably my dream as a child.
The letter: Dear future self,
I hope you're doing okay and are happy with where you are in life right now. Because right now It kinda sucks being a freshman in college. I wonder what you're doing in life right now, did you graduate? If so what do you plan on doing with your degree? Are you doing what you've always wanted to do? No matter what you chose to do with your life i just hope you're happier and better and just know that freshman you is proud of how far you've gotten :) Right now you've tried some business classes and that didn't really work out but at least you learned stuff you'd end up using in the future, right? It's April of 2022 and we are STRUGGLING to get through the end of the semester but i'm not gonna try to stress it too much, i know you're gonna be reading this in 4 years and just think you were an idiot for being this overwhelmed for stupid freshman classes. Anyways I really do wonder where im going to be in 4 years all I hope is that you're happy and doing what you love. Just remember that no matter if you do the best thing in the world or the worst thing ever, we all die eventually and no one will ever remember you so it's okay to fail at life sometimes don't push yourself too hard look how far you've made it. Just live :)
Right now you just watch billie as your comfort person and thats the one thing I hope you will always keep the same... i also really hope you've attended coachella by now too LOL. Ok bye love you
